School Visits
A yoga teacher and children's author = great value!
I am experienced in providing full school yoga to primary schools.
Fee - in person
Half day package, consisting of 4 x 30 minute classes: £120
Full day, consisting of up to 8 classes of 30-45 minutes (depending on year group): £250
This includes planning time, resources, and travel to schools within 30 minutes of Hemel Hempstead. Schools further away will involve further travel costs.
Fee - Zoom only
£30 per hour, to include preparation time.
I am full insured to teach yoga on Zoom and can provide you with the link.
Let me zoom into your classroom! Ideal if budgets are tight and travel is a constraint.
Perfect for Chair Yoga or author Q&A sessions.
If you read to the very bottom, I offer free resources that you are welcome to use!
Why would you want me in your school?
My visits tick these boxes for schools:
Physical, mental, emotional wellbeing
Mindfulness
Inclusivity - yoga is great for children with additional needs, and can be adapted for those with physical disabilities
Children's Mental Health
Creativity
Literacy
Reading for pleasure
Inspiring reluctant readers
Book sales to children: this can raise funding for your PTA
Author visits are special! We can talk about the process of creating, what it's like to publish a book, and help to spark creativity and a love of reading.
Yoga teachers offer something different! All movement is good for the body, but children can be put off competitive activities if they feel they are not good enough. Yoga is non-competitive and non-judgmental. Children's yoga is creative and fun. Yoga also incorporates mindful meditation, and is therefore fantastic for mental and physical wellbeing.
Schools may want authors/yoga teachers to visit during
World Book Week
National Storytelling Week
Children's Mental Health Week
or any other time when the school is exploring a theme linked to wellbeing, reading or creative writing.
I am fully qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga to teach adults' and children's yoga so I can even include a session for your staff!
I subscribe to the DBS update service so you can look up my most recent record. I am safeguarding trained and hold public liability insurance.
What does full school yoga look like?
Depending on space, I can teach any number of pupils! I will need teaching staff present to support me.
Yoga on mats:
Most school halls fit 30 pupils in comfortably.
Sessions can be between 30-45 minutes depending on age group; normally early years and key stage 1 would have shorter sessions, and key stage 2 classes would be longer. I can adapt timings to you.
I stay in your school hall and children are brought to me. Please allow changeover time for removing and putting on shoes.
I can provide up to 20 yoga mats - Early Years and Key Stage 1 children can share mats, older children may need one each. I can also use your school gymnastics mats. We always find a way to accommodate everyone!
Classroom author Q&A/Chair Yoga
If space is a constraint, if there is a large number of children with physical disabilities, or if the visit is by Zoom, the usual classroom can be used. My yoga books are both available as Chair Yoga editions - please see the videos below to see how it's done!
Themes:
I can use my own books or create a theme using books or topics that you are working on in class.
Book sales
Children can take home a piece of wellbeing/creativity with them. Books can be ordered online through my website in advance, and I can sign and write individual messages inside.
I can either give a discount of 20% to families, or donate 20% of sales to the school PTA.
Free resources
I don't mind if you use these resources for free, but would be genuinely delighted if you were to either buy the books or book me in for a visit!
